I am an experienced and accredited Professional Supervisor with an extensive background in pastoral ministry and psychology. I support pastors and ministry staff, chaplains, counsellors, educators and those in a wide range of helping professions.
As an ordained local church pastor and a registered psychologist, I understands the unique challenges across the ministry and helping profession landscape. I adopt a holistic approach to supervision, fostering your physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. It is my passion to see you thrive and not just survive!
The word "HAVEN" represents a place of safety and refuge....a place offering favourable opportunities. This is the essence of my approach. I believe supervision is a place where you can find courage to embrace your fullest potential.

The process will vary depending on your preferred mode of reflection, and desired goals, direction and outcomes. You may have a clear idea of what you want to explore, or you may like to see what comes to the surface.
For example, together we can explore;
what is going on?
how can this be fixed or changed?
what does it really mean?
who am I in this?
how can I look at this in a different way?
By attending your ministry work from all angles you can gain a balanced approach to your reflection in supervision. If you work in a faith-based context there will also be opportunities for
theological reflection.
Professional Supervision is an intentional space to connect, reflect and respond to your work.
The Australasian Association of Supervision (AAOS) defines supervision as
“a contractual, relational, and collaborative process, which facilitates the ethical and professional practice of the supervisee”.
It is a regular, planned, intentional and boundaried space where you are free to reflect on all aspects of your work without judgement. I like to say that it is a safe place to have those conversations out loud that you usually only have in your head!
Together we create space for learning and growth, clarity and perspective, honesty and bravery....all of which benefit you and those you serve.
While coaching and mentoring have a valuable place in the life of those in ministry and helping professions, they have a different role and focus to Professional Supervision.
Professional supervision is not;
- spiritual direction
- counselling
- line management
- coaching
- mentoring
Aspects of these approaches may arise in supervision, but they are not the focus. Professional Supervision is unique in that as well as being for your benefit, it prioritises the needs of the 'absent other', or those you serve in your work.
The differences between these disciplines can be discussed in your free initial consultation. Should you require a more focused approach in any of these areas you may be encouraged to seek an external referral.
Research has found that Pastoral Supervision is important for;
- Accountability and challenge
- Reducing the likelihood of burnout
- Receiving practical support
- Building strength and resilience in ministry
- Exploring the interaction between personal and spiritual issues in ministry work
- Reducing stress and anxiety
- learning from experience for future strategy
- reflecting on the organisational and cultural structures of your workplace
- promoting values-based professional conduct consistent with current best-practice
In the final report by the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse in 2017, it was advised that all religious and pastoral ministry workers undertake professional supervision.
Recommendation 16.5 states “Each religious institution should ensure that all people in religious or pastoral ministry, including religious leaders, have professional supervision with a trained professional or pastoral supervisor who has a degree of independence from the institution within which the person is in ministry.”
This can be discussed during your initial consultation. It will depend on your goals and resources.
For your benefit, it is recommended that you commit to a session every 5-6 weeks over a 12 month period. However, more/less frequent sessions are available should you require
